What is the safest way to apply Deer Fear?

Spray Deer Fear downwind ONLY. Deer Fear recommends using goggles (we don't), disposable gloves and a mask.

What is in Deer Fear?

Deer Fear is our proprietary blend of organically grown hot peppers. The peppers used are rated at over 2.2 million heat units on the Scoville Scale.

What if I don't wash my hands after applying Deer Fear and I wasn't wearing gloves ?

Deer Fear recommends always washing your hands prior to touching any part of your body, especially your nether region (muy caliente, and not in a good way).

How much area is covered by a 32 ounce bottle?

It depends, typically a 32 ounce bottle can cover between 1,000 to 1,500 square feet for one month provided that the area is being sprayed every other week.

What is the recommended spray cycle? After rain? After sprinklers?

Deer Fear recommends you spray once a week.  If you experience a heavy rainfall, allow the area to dry and then spray Deer Fear immediately (some customers apply Deer Fear immediately after the rain stops and reapply when the rain dries).  You don't need to reapply after sprinkler use unless the sprinklers mimic rainfall.

Is Deer Fear safe around children and Pets?

Deer Fear is safe as long as you follow similar rules to applying fertilizer to your lawn.

  • Do not apply when children and pets are in the area.
  • Allow it to dry before children play in the area.
  • Pets can typically smell the heat and stay away, but to be safe allow it to dry before your pet plays in the sprayed area.

Can you use a pump sprayer and can we purchase larger quantities?

Deer Fear is working on acquiring our own labeled pump sprayers and developing product availability in a variety of quantities.  We expect to be ready by the Fall/Winter of 2023.  In the meantime, we have started a weekly spraying service check out our shop page.

What is the difference between the recipes?

We created four versions of deer fear so that the deer never adapt to eating our clients plants. Weekly spray customers never have to worry as we rotate through the formulas on a monthly basis.

Which bottle should I buy?

Easy, buy all four. Actually, you can buy any of the bottles just remember which one you purchased (should be marked) and spray a different one after 4 weeks.
